Abstract:
Effectiveness, efficiency, and equity impact of vaccination programmes are key metrics in evaluating their public health impact. I will highlight these perspectives with studies on effectiveness and efficiency of human papillomavirus vaccination at the global, regional, and national levels; health impact of vaccination in low- and middle-income countries; and equity impact of vaccination in Ethiopia and Kenya. We will end with a discussion on challenges and potential solutions for integrated metrics of effectiveness, efficiency, and equity to facilitate decision-making on vaccination programmes.


Presenter bio:Kaja Abbas is an assistant professor of disease modelling at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and an adjunct faculty in the Seoul National University Graduate School of Public Health. His research area is vaccine impact modelling with a focus on estimating the health, economic, and equity impact of vaccination programmes at the global, regional, and national levels.
